We have been patiently awaiting the launch of the Vivo X21 in India which has been scheduled to be on May 29. Surprisingly, Vivo has already begun a pre-book campaign on its official store to ensure fans can grab the device as soon as it goes on sale. While there has been no indication as to the launch of this phone in the country to be in the form of a flash sale, it is curious as to why the company is presenting such an offer. It could be to gauge pre-launch reception or perhaps the manufacturer isn’t confident in its ability to meet demand. The latter is unlikely. Either way, let’s take a look at what benefits pre-booking the Vivo X21 entails.

Heading over to the Vivo X21’s product page on the official Vivo online store still doesn’t give us the Indian pricing of the smartphone. The exact storage variants launching in the subcontinent are also not mentioned. You only get the option to make a Rs.2,000 payment to secure a device for yourself. After you make the payment, you shall receive a coupon worth Rs.2,000 emailed to your registered email ID. On the 29th, once the phone’s price is revealed and it actually goes on sale, all you would need to do is select your desired storage and colour variant, apply the Rs.2,000 coupon, and pay whatever remaining MRP required for the phone.
Vivo is also introducing a few other benefits for those who go through with this pre-booking scheme. Firstly, they will receive a gift voucher worth Rs.1,000 which you can claim at Ferns N Petals, India’s largest flower and gifts retailer. Buyers will also be eligible for a no-cost EMI for up to 12 months. Those who make their payment using an SBI Credit Card are eligible for a 5 percent cashback. Those on the Vodafone network also get a full year device security plan along with 280GB of Mobile Internet data.
Vivo X21: Expected Price in India
The Vivo X21 is launching as a Flipkart exclusive smartphone in India. There are two main variants of this smartphone —one with an in-display fingerprint scanner and one without. The standard model is expected to be priced around Rs. 29,900 for the 64GB internal storage model, while the 128GB storage model should cost around Rs.33,000.
Since the official pre-order product page on Vivo’s website exclusively features images of the Vivo X21 with the in-screen fingerprint scanner, it is almost certain that this version is coming to the Indian market. In China, this variant is priced at CNY 3,598, which converts to around Rs. 37,000, while it costs SGD 799 (around Rs. 39,900) in Singapore. The recently announced Vivo X21 FIFA World Cup 2018 Extraordinaire Edition comes in Classic Blue and Victory Red colour options and is priced similarly.
Vivo X21: Specifications and Features
The Vivo X21 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. It has a 6.28-inch FullHD+ SUPER AMOLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. This dual-SIM capable device runs FunTouch OS 4.0 skin on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. Google has already released the Android P beta for this device, and the full version can be expected to roll out soon.
Vivo X21’s primary camera has a dual setup with 12MP and 5MP sensors. It rocks a 12MP shooter at the front for selfies that is capable of 3D mapping, Face Wake facial recognition, and IR fill light. This sensor is situated in the unavoidable notch at the top of the display. A powerful 3,200mAh battery capable of fast charging is what keeps this device ticking.
