NEET Result 2018: Delhi Girl Tops Medical Entrance Exam with Amazing 99.99%
Scoring the highest marks in NEET 2018 with an incredible 99.99 percentile, Delhi girl Kalpana Kumari (who hails from Bihar) has bagged the All India Rank 1 in CBSE’s nation-wide medical entrance exam.
At 12.45 pm on Monday, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2018 on its official website. Conducted in Hindi, English, Urdu, Gujarati, Marathi, Oriya, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada, NEET UG is a single national-level entrance test for admissions to approximately 90,000 MBBS and BDS seats across the country in colleges approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India respectively.
This year, the exam was held on May 6 in over 130 cities at 2255 exam centres. While the results were to be out on June 5 according to the official schedule, they have been released a day earlier than expected.
Kalpana’s overall score is 691 out of 720, under which she obtained 171 out of 180 in physics, 160 out of 180 in Chemistry, 360 out of 360 in Biology (Botany and Zoology).
Close behind Kalpana is Rohan Purohit from Telangana and Himanshu Sharma from Delhi who both scored 690 marks. These students certainly have a bright future ahead of them and are an inspiration for others youngsters who will appear for their exams next year. Kudos to them!

Interestingly, the cut-offs are lower than last year
For the general (unreserved) category, the cut off is 119 marks. Last year it was 131 out of 720. The cut off for SC, ST and OBC candidates is 96, as compared to last year’s 107. For candidates with disabilities in the general category, the cut-off is 107-118 while for candidates with disabilities in the SC, ST and OBC categories, the cut-off is 96-106.
As for the all-India merit list, CBSE is expected to release by end of the day today. It will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the exam. From June 12, candidates who have qualified the examination will be allowed to participate in NEET Counselling for both All India Quota Seats (15% seats) conducted by Medical Council of India (MCI) as well as state-level counselling conducted by individual state authorities for the rest 85% seats.
