Jio Phone to support WhatsApp
Jio Phone to support WhatsApp
The Reliance Jio’s 4G VoLTE-enabled feature phone was launched with several smart features in 2017, but now the users have been demanding for WhatsApp support for the handset.
After much anticipation, the latest update is that the Jio Phone is getting WhatsApp support that too sooner than expected.
All this while, JioPhone that runs on KaiOS did not support WhatsApp. Thus, the social media giant has now been working on a KaiOS version of the app, which is a matter of great joy JioPhone users.
Based on Linux, KaiOS is a light OS, which takes up fewer resources as compared to other popular operating systems, such as Android and iOS. Since its introduction, JioPhone has become one of the most popular feature phones in India.
Please note that there has been no official announcement from WhatsApp or Reliance Jio regarding the announcement of the feature in the phones.
Notably, KaiOS Technologies had mentioned in February 2018 that it has partnered with many technology giants, including Twitter, Facebook and Google.
There is apparently a lot of demand for WhatsApp among JioPhone users. California-based startup Browserling was nearly killed earlier this year as traffic from JioPhone users increased manifolds suddenly as they discovered the Browserling app could be used to operate WhatsApp on the 4G feature phone.
